A New Urban Park: Building a Future from a Dialogue with the Past

Landworks Studio was chosen to participate in the second stage of the Bagnoli Competition. Our team proposal aims to celebrate and embrace the many layers of histories and timelines that define the richness of the cultural and ecological character of Bagnoli and the larger Naples region. An underlying objective of this project is to create a visible and interactive global lens through which unique layers of history, those dormant and active, are universally revealed and embraced. Additionally, the project is predicated upon the reading of the site as an urban palimpsest of a regional scale where many histories (cultural and natural) are already actively interacting with one another in truly unique ways. As a methodology for defining a vibrant future, new park infrastructures and programs delicately expand to engage and reveal the many existing wonders of the site.
