We are pleased to share that The House of the Seven Gables has secured funds from the Coastal Resilience Grant, administered by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management, to address critical climate adaptation measures that will protect this nationally significant historic site from coastal flooding and storm surge.

The grant will support Phase 1a implementation of the Coastal Adaptation Masterplan that focuses on permitting and developing construction-ready design plans for relocating the Counting House and floodproofing the Hooper Hathaway House, two historic and publicly accessible buildings on the campus. The project will address critical coastal and stormwater vulnerabilities while laying the foundation for future phased-relocation actions.

We’re excited to contribute to the preservation of this important Salem landmark and look forward to advancing this critical work.
