Rita Lopes Shimmel

Rita grew up in Sintra, Portugal, close to the ocean and the mountains, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO. This had a great influence on her as she was inspired to create beautiful and meaningful spaces. She first joined Landworks Studio as an intern in 2016, and after working in the south of Portugal doing high-end residential projects, she came back in 2020 to collaborate on international projects ranging from large city parks to smaller gardens.

Rita received a Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in landscape architecture from the Higher Institute of Agronomy in Lisbon, Portugal, and completed an exchange semester at the Dresden Technische Universität, Germany.
