A new residential development comprised of two buildings and a large underground garage located along a cultural corridor in downtown Philadelphia requires a sensitive, layered site solution that will make visual connections to an existing neighborhood park, extend the public realm into the adjacent urban streetscape, function as a private gathering place for residents of the towers and, as part of a larger environmental agenda, provide inventive stormwater collection solutions. The undulated ground plane (garage rooftop) weaves required building program and various garage ventilation technologies, plant materials, water catchment systems, and garage daylighting moments into a holistic aesthetic. Other project components include various water features, and both intensive and extensive rooftop planting systems.
