A contemporary re-interpretation of a standard Boston landscape typology, the urban pedestrian corridor, inspired our design proposal to transform an air-rights development over a narrow linear strip of rail line into a highly artificial, internally lit chandelier spanning the corridor recalling a forest canopy, making a surreal connection between the adjacent green corridors and larger urban landscape system. A woven plastic wall along the proposed garage creates exciting views for pedestrians at and above grade and for commuters moving past. The design also consists of an urban plaza that facilitates connections to Berkeley Street, the proposed parking garage, and an existing stair to the below rail line.
