‘Absolute Connectivity’ was the theme for the proposal to re-establish the cultural imperative for the National Library in Oslo, Norway. Working collaboratively with Norwegian architects Jensen & Scodvin, Landworks Studio sought to build a site strategy that would establish unfettered access through and across the entire site, filtering and facilitating connections between the rejuvenated library program and the urban fabric around it, establishing arboreal links to adjacent urban green spaces, dissolving spatial and visual barriers by creating overlapping courtyard spaces that capture existing tree groupings, new tree communities or significant views off site and by allowing ground plane materials and lighting strategies to slide in and out of the footprint of the proposed building.
