A re-imagined former industrial lot: part playground, part campus, part public park becomes the new home for the prestigious Atrium School. The former 2 acre asphalt lot has been restructured into four terraces, each with its own water collection system; parking, play courts, great lawn, and rain garden. Each terrace creates interesting spatial, programmatic and physical links to one another, the street edge, and the new School. Sequential landscape experiences, which ripple out from the building entry, create a seamless relationship between the school’s architecture, children’s play, out door class rooms and the adjacent neighborhood.
